Director Ryoo Seung-wan on Wednesday said he is considering making a sequel to his hit film “Veteran,” which sold more than 12 million tickets.
"We’re currently researching what social issues the public is interested in and what kind of individual they are curious to know more about,” Ryoo told reporters.

The high-flying “Veteran” portrayed a seasoned investigator’s struggle and cathartic victory in uncovering criminal acts of a corrupt corporate heir.
Kang Hye-jeong, CEO of Filmmaker R&K, said it would take two to three years to make the sequel. “We’re brainstorming on various aspects to find a bigger villain than Jo Tae-oh,” she said, referring to the corrupt millionaire character played by actor Yoo Ah-in.
Actor Hwang Jung-min, who played the protagonist in the film, said that “the outline (for sequel) has not been set yet, but I think I would be in it.”
Hwang, a fan of the “Alien” franchise, explored a possibility that “Veteran” would transform into a strong franchise here. “The reason I want to do this ‘Veteran’ series is that those who watch the film will age together. That’s fun,” Hwang said.
