Bakery brand Paris Baguette opens 2nd store in Paris

July 1, 2015 - 11:02 By KH디지털2

South Korean confectionery giant Paris Baguette said Wednesday it has opened its second Paris store in the city's Opera district, a move that comes as the company is stepping up its overseas expansion.

The opening comes roughly 11 months after it opened its first Paris store in the Chatelet district of the French capital, which is in the vicinity of key tourist attractions, such as Notre Dame Cathedral and Louvre Museum.

"We opened our second branch in France at an earlier-than-expected schedule as the first branch started posting an operating profit soon after its opening," it said in a press release.

The company said it plans to bolster marketing of Korean-style pastries and breads in the second branch.

The Opera branch is the latest addition to the company's growing global operations. Since 2004, the bakery chain has been expanding branches in Asia and North America, most recently focusing on stores in New York.

The move is part of wider efforts by South Korean food and restaurant chains that are turning overseas to seek new growth engines.

Tous Les Jours, a bakery franchise owned by the country's food conglomerate CJ, has tapped into China, Vietnam, the U.S. and other countries. (Yonhap)
