June 18, 2015 - 18:04 By KH디지털2

Apple Inc.'s iPhone has topped a customer satisfaction list for smartphones in South Korea, trumping Galaxy smartphones made by archrival Samsung Electronics Co., a report showed Thursday.

The U.S. smartphone maker garnered 759 marks in terms of product satisfaction by local consumers at the end of 2014, according to the biennial report by Seoul-based Consumer Insight.

Samsung Electronics was even beaten by its smaller home rival LG Electronics Inc., placing third with a score of 580. LG gained 611 marks, followed by cash-strapped handset maker Pantech Co. with 580.

The assessment of the smartphone makers was scored out of 1,000, based on responses from consumers who had bought a phone in the last six months, the report said. They evaluated the products' functions, features and designs, it added.

Samsung had ranked first with a score of 684 in 2010, but it fell to the second spot the next year and until late 2012, as Apple took over with new iPhones.

In the first half of 2013, it fell behind LG and tied with Pantech in third place, according to the report. (Yonhap)
