June 18, 2015 - 16:26 By KH디지털2

The operator of Incheon International Airport, South Korea's main gateway, said Thursday it has signed a deal to provide operations consulting to the world's largest airport currently under construction in Turkey.

Incheon International Airport Corp. said it has been chosen alongside Denmark's Copenhagen Airport for the 10.8 million euro ($12.3 million) project to provide consulting services to IGA, the operator of Istanbul New Airport, for the next five years. IIAC will take the lion share at a 57 percent contract rate.

Under the project, IIAC will consult on business strategy development, organizational establishment and education, trial operation of the airport and operation of the new airport, including developing commercial facilities, until October 2020.

Istanbul New Airport, set to cost about $24 billion, will replace the existing Ataturk Airport.

The new hub is expected to become the world's largest airport, dealing with 180 million passengers annually.

IIAC has provided operations consulting on 20 projects in 10 countries since 2007, racking up a combined US$71.8 million. (Yonhap)
