Shinhan Card ranked as top financial brand

April 1, 2015 - 20:06 By Korea Herald
Shinhan Card, the credit card brand affiliated with the nation’s largest banking group Shinhan Financial Group, has been selected as No. 1 for brand power in finance.

Brand assessment and research firm Brandstock picked Shinhan Card as having the highest brand value among local financial companies in the first quarter of this year, officials said Wednesday.

With 898 points in BrandStock Top Index, the credit card company was 10th in the general becoming the only financial to the top 10 list.

Brandstock’s top 100 brands are selected from 950 brands in 230 business sectors. The given index is evaluated by combining the stock price figured out through a mock stock trading (70 percent) and the consumer research index (30 percent), officials explained.

The card was also earlier named by Korea Management Association Consulting as the No. 1 credit card for six consecutive years.

“Our use of big data to offer tangible benefits to customers, together with our initiative in the fintech market, turned out to be effective,” said an official of the card company.

“We will continue to reinforce communication, especially with young customers in the 20 to 30 age group.”
