South Korea's No. 2 tech giant LG Electronics Inc., which recently has been making efforts to tap deeper into the automobile sector, said Wednesday it has provided electronic parts to a concept car made by Italdesign Giugiaro, a design arm of Germany's Volkswagen Group.

LG said the concept car "GEA" was being showcased at the Geneva International Motor Show, which runs until March 15. The concept car is equipped with electronics such as displays and cameras, including a 6-inch HD Curved plastic organic light-emitting diode display and a 12.3-inch Full HD display.

"The technological collaboration is meaningful in that LG Electronics painted the future of next-generation smart car design through a globally reputable automobile designer," an official from LG said.

The company also showcased its Internet of Things technology through its new smartwatch, the LG Watch Urbane LTE, which activated the doors of the concept car. The wearable device is equipped with a 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor and runs on the Android Wear platform. (Yonhap)
