N. Korea rejects South's parliamentary resolution calling for talks

Jan. 9, 2015 - 20:09 By 송상호
North Korea refused Friday to accept a South Korean parliamentary resolution calling for the resumption of inter-Korean dialogue, the unification ministry said.

In late December, the National Assembly passed the resolution, which calls for preparations for unification with the North and talks between the rival Koreas, in a bid to thaw tensions on the peninsula.

"(Seoul) tried to deliver the resolution on Thursday afternoon and Friday morning through a communication line, but the North refused to accept it, citing orders from above," a ministry official said.

"It is regretful that the North has declined to accept the resolution, despite its calls for more active dialogue and negotiations," the official said.

Seoul earlier also proposed inter-Korean talks to discuss various pending issues, but Pyongyang has yet to respond. (Yonhap)
