KT Corp. CEO Hwang Chang-gyu urged his employees to work effortlessly to gain the trust of consumers and lead the market.

In his New Year speech at the company on Friday, Hwang said KT had faced a series of problems last year, and that the group and its units should work together to overcome the economic uncertainties ahead.

The company faced further unpredictability from the mobile communication market, and challenges in the fixed-line communication market, Hwang said.

“The group (and its companies) should strive to become one, and I have realized that we should not neglect even minor problems,” Hwang said.

Hwang stressed that companies that were ethical and creative would be able to seize the market, and said that to achieve this, KT must do things more scientifically and smartly to become a top telecom company.

He said KT would be able to boost its competitiveness should it converge big data solutions with its units’ services, technology and infrastructure.
