South Korea's tech giant Samsung Electronics Co. topped the list of the most preferred brands in Russia this year, a market researcher said Wednesday, maintaining its top spot for the fourth consecutive year.
  

 Russia-based Online Market Intelligence said Samsung was named the most favorable brand in the country for 2014, followed by Germany-based sports apparel maker Adidas AG and Japan's tech firm Sony Corp. Nike and Nokia rounded out the top five.
   
U.S.-based Apple Inc., the biggest rival of Samsung, fell one notch from a year earlier to rank sixth, while South Korea's LG Electronics Inc. managed to be included on the top 10 list by ranking ninth.
   
"Samsung emerged as the most favorable brand in Russia as it has been making continuous social contributions while rolling out competitive products," a Samsung official said.
   
The world's No. 1 maker of smartphones was also named the most favorable handset brand for the second consecutive year, followed by Nokia and Apple. Samsung also topped the list for consumer electronics, trailed by Germany-based Bosch and LG Electronics. (Yonhap)
