Two KBO clubs sign new foreign players

Nov. 25, 2014 - 20:41 By Korea Herald
Two Korea Baseball Organization clubs on Tuesday announced their acquisitions of former Major League Baseball players.

The Lotte Giants said they signed outfielder Jim Adduci to a one-year deal worth $650,000, a figure that includes a signing bonus.

The 29-year-old played 61 games with the Texas Rangers in 2013 and 2014, with a career big league batting average of .189 with one home run, eight RBIs and five steals.

Also on Tuesday, the LG Twins said they signed right-hander Lucas Harrell to a one-year deal worth $900,000, which includes a signing bonus.

The 29-year-old has appeared in 88 MLB games, 62 of them starts, for the Chicago White Sox and the Houston Astros from 2010 to 2014. He went 18-33 with a 4.84 ERA in 401 2/3 big league innings.

In the minors, Harrell was 67-51 with a 3.97 ERA in 169 appearances, 161 of which were starts.

Tuesday is the last day for the KBO clubs to decide which of their foreign players they’d like to keep for next season. Several teams, including the Giants and the Twins, will undergo roster changes this offseason.

The Giants said they will not bring back left-hander Shane Youman and infielder Luis Jimenez. They will try to re-sign right-hander Chris Oxspring. (Yonhap)
