Oct. 22, 2014 - 14:52 By Korea Herald
A civil organization has been launched to protect students’ personal information within education fields.

Parents’ Union on Net announced Tuesday the launch of the Student Privacy Association, or SPA, organized by multiple civil organizations, to reestablish the significance of protecting students’ privacy and promote relevant governmental policies to support the movement.

“With fast expansion of e-learning and the computer/Internet education environment, and frequent usage of personal information for Internet/mobile games, students’ personal information and privacy protection awareness have become ever more important tasks,” said Lee Kyung-hwa, president of Parents’ Union on Net.

“Amidst the alarming social issues regarding personal information leakage, school too has been pointed out as one of the unprotected places where such problems may arise, calling out for needs to establish new supporting policies for student privacy,” the union added.
