2PM dominates Japan with new single ‘Midaretemina’

Sept. 17, 2014 - 18:35 By Korea Herald
Popular Korean idol group 2PM proved its mighty power in Japan after releasing its eighth single, “Midaretemina,” on Wednesday.

The song “Midaretemina” is a Japanese version of “Go Crazy,” the title song of the group’s recently released album in Korea. The songs on the single also include “Fight,” composed by member Taecyeon.

The single was highly anticipated by Japanese fans, topping the Tower Records’ daily reservation chart Sunday even before its release.

The promotional campaign for 2PM’s new album also proved its immense popularity. Fifty-two signboards have been placed along Tokyo’s avenue for youth and fashion, which has started to be referred to as “2PM Avenue.”

A “2PM Subway” has also been launched in Osaka and is scheduled to run for a month. A popular Japanese karaoke company also installed “2PM Midaretemina Karaoke” in four Japanese cities. 2PM’s Karaoke is reported to be widely popular among fans, being reserved as soon as it opens.

The group is also set to hold a guerrilla event to celebrate the release of its new album, inviting 1,000 2PM fans. The Internet site for the event application was swamped with fans, and eventually crashed.

2PM made its comeback in Korea with its fourth studio album, “Go Crazy,” on Monday, and go on a world tour in October.
