엑소(EXO)의 공식 글로벌 팬클럽 ‘EXO-L’(엑소-엘)이 출범해 화제를 모으고 있다.
엑소는 5일 정오 엑소-엘 전용 홈페이지 및 모바일 어플리케이션을 오픈하고 글로벌 팬들을 대상으로 공식 팬클럽 모집에 돌입했다.
이에 수많은 팬들이 엑소 공식 홈페이지로 몰리면서 홈페이지 접속이 마비되는 사태가 벌어진 것.
팬클럽명 ‘EXO-L’은 ‘EXO-LOVE’의 줄임말로 알파벳 순서에서 K와 M 사이에 L이 위치하듯이 ‘EXO-K’와 ‘EXO-M’ 안에서 엑소를 사랑하는 모든 팬을 의미하며 엑소의 팀 구호 ‘WE ARE ONE’에 맞춰 ‘엑소와 팬은 하나’라는 뜻도 포함하고 있다.
특히 ‘EXO-L’은 팬클럽 최초로 전용 모바일 어플리케이션을 통해 운영, 회원들의 이용 편의성을 더욱 높였으며 개별 바코드가 삽입된 모바일 회원카드 제공을 비롯해 멤버와의 채팅 이벤트, 엑소 콘텐츠 공개, 공식 스케줄 참여 신청 등의 혜택을 준다.
공식 팬클럽 출범을 기념해 8월 한 달간 특별 이벤트도 준비, 6일부터 매주 1번씩 엑소 멤버들과 팬들이 보다 가까이 소통할 수 있는 채팅 이벤트를 진행함은 물론, 엑소에 관련된 퀴즈를 풀고 다양한 선물에 응모하는 퀴즈 이벤트도 펼쳐 팬들의 폭발적인 반응을 이끌어 낼 것으로 예상된다.
‘EXO-L’ 가입방법은 EXO-L 전용 모바일 어플리케이션을 다운받거나 EXO-L 전용 홈페이지(에 접속해 간단한 가입절차를 거치면 누구나 엑소 공식 글로벌 팬클럽 회원이 될 수 있다.

EXO-L website crashed due to heavy traffic
The website of K-pop idol band EXO’s official fan club EXO-L crashed on Tuesday shortly after its launch due to the surge in the number of fans, proving EXO’s ever-growing popularity.
EXO’s label SM Entertainment opened the website (https://exo-l.smtown.com/) and mobile applications at noon on Tuesday to recruit members for EXO’s first-ever official fan club EXO-L.
But EXO-L’s website as well as EXO’s shut down as of 1:00 pm that day because of heavy traffic.
Those seeking to gain membership to the fan club should go through the application process on EXO-L’s official website or mobile application.
For the month of August, a variety of events will be held for fan club members ranging from quiz events to weekly chat events with EXO members to celebrate the launch of EXO-L.
Those with membership also can access EXO’s schedule for activities and have the chance to participate in some of the events, its agency said.
The fan club’s name EXO-L is a shorter form of EXO-Love. L is also the letter between K and M, meaning EXO, composed of sub-units EXO-M and EXO-K, and their fans are one.
K-pop sensation EXO will next embark on its fourth global concert tour, “SM Town Live,” with the first concert to be held in Seoul on Aug. 15.
