The latest album by Daesung, a member of the popular South Korean boy band Big Bang, topped Japan’s leading music ranking chart on Thursday, just a day after its release, according to the chart company.
“D’s Love,” Daesung’s second full-length solo album, took the No. 1 spot on the Oricon Daily Album Chart by selling 30,099 copies on the first day of its release, it said.
This marks the first time the singer has risen to the top spot of an Oricon chart. He had previously ranked at No. 2 on the Oricon Weekly Album Chart with his solo debut album “D’scover,”released in Japan in February 2013.
“D’s Love” is in Japanese and has 10 tracks, including four from his digital EP “Rainy Rainy,” which topped the Japanese iTunes’ album chart last month.
Daesung is scheduled to hold two solo concerts in Tokyo on Thursday and Friday as part of his ongoing concert tour of major Japanese cities. (Yonhap)
