Jung Joon-young says ‘mainstream K-pop isn’t my style’

June 26, 2014 - 16:59 By Korea Herald
Jung Joon-young expressed his pride in being a rock singer and not part of typical mainstream K-pop during a showcase for his new EP in Seoul on Thursday.

“I didn’t really take mass appeal into account when making this album. I think what appeals to the public (typical K-pop) isn’t my thing. And that’s why it was more fun (preparing the album) and I liked it more when it was released,” the 25-year-old rocker said.

Jung continued to express his devotion to rock.

“Of course, some may not like the songs (on my new album) but I hope they will have more thoughts about rock after listening to my songs.”

Jung rose to fame after finishing in third place on the singing audition program “Super Star K4.”
