Human resources chiefs will gather for the 2014 Birkman Conference on Wednesday to discuss new human resource concepts.
JMCAREER, a local outplacement service firm that first introduced the Birkman Method ― a workplace behavioral assessment approach ― to Korea in 2012, will host the conference at the Federation of Korean Industries building in Yeouido, Seoul,
“At the conference, we will look at what the Birkman Method has achieved over the last two years here and the cases of global and local companies that have applied the program,” said Park Jeong-sook, JMCAREER’s managing director.
Developed by U.S. organizational psychologist Roger Winfred Birkman in 1949, the Birkman Method is designed to measure social behavior, underlying expectations of interpersonal and task actions to improve interpersonal skills and align roles both at work and at home.
According to JMCAREER, more than 20,000 people from some 100 companies, public institutions and universities have undergone the psychological assessment in Korea since 2012, when the firm signed an exclusive contract with Birkman International Inc. to run the program.
Birkman International CEO Sharon Birkman Fink and vice president of sales and marketing Mark Wickliffe will make a speech on global trends in the human resources market. An HR executive from KT Corp. will also deliver a speech on how the company used the Birkman Method and what impact it had on KT’s employees.
