K-pop girl group miss A’s Suzy, hailed as Korea’s icon of first love, plans to return to the screen with a Korean film tentatively named “Dorihwaga,” entertainment news outlet OSEN reported Thursday.

The 19-year-old beauty was offered a female lead role in the film about pansori (Korean folk narrative), and Suzy’s agency JYP said it is “positively” considering the suggestion.

The film “Dorihwaga,” helmed by Lee Jong-pil, a director and actor who starred in the hit Korean film “The Man from Nowhere,” will be based on true stories of pansori writer Shin Jae-hyo and his much-cherished student Jin Che-seon.

According to industry watchers, Suzy has been training to master pansori to better play her part in the movie. Popular male stars are allegedly in talks with the film production company to costar with the teen actress.

After debuting in 2010 as a member of K-pop girl group miss A, Suzy has starred in a number of dramas and films, broadening her presence as an actress. Her debut film “Architecture 101,” released in 2012, was well regarded by critics and moviegoers, taking the No. 1 slot at the box office for three weeks after its release.
