Kara Project unveils 7th member Yuji

May 20, 2014 - 18:08 By Korea Herald
DSP Media, K-pop girl group Kara’s management agency, unveiled Yuji as the last contestant to join “Kara Project” on Tuesday.

“Kara Project” is a joint scheme initiated by MBC Music and DSP Media to choose members to join Kara among seven trainees at the company after two members -- Kang Ji-young and Jung Nicole -- left the group for personal reasons. Kara currently has three members -- Goo Ha-ra, Han Seung-yeon and Park Gyu-ri.

Yuji is the latest addition to six other would-be Kara members -- Sojin, Shiyoon, Youngji, Chaekyung, Somin and Chewon.
The 17-year-old “baby Kara” emerged from the SBS TV singing competition “K-pop Star 2,” which aired in 2012. She was hailed as a “dance genius” for her mature dance moves by the judges, but failed to make it to the top.

“I’m confident in withstanding (pressure). It’s my duty and what I should do. I’ll work even harder this time,” said Yuji in the teaser video, disclosed by DSP Media.

“Kara Project” is scheduled to be broadcasted on MBC Music starting on May 27.
