The Nexen Heroes of the Korea Baseball Organization said Thursday they have signed right-hander Henry Sosa for his second tour of duty in the top domestic league.
The Heroes signed Sosa to a contract worth $150,000, along with a $50,000 signing bonus plus options. The transaction comes a day after the Heroes, currently in second place in the nine-team league at 21-13, put struggling right-hander Brandon Knight on waivers.
Sosa pitched for another KBO club, the Kia Tigers, in 2012 and 2013. He joined them in May 2012 and went 9-8 in 23 appearances with a 3.54 ERA.
In 2013, he pitched in 29 games and was 9-9 with a 5.47 ERA. He struck out 143 in 164 2/3 innings.
This year, the Dominican has made seven starts for the Albuquerque Isotopes, the Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, and has gone 1-2 with a 3.72 ERA in 36 1/3 innings. (Yonhap)
