Samsung reshuffles corporate strategy office

Samsung Group reshuffled its Corporate Strategy Office, a core unit for promoting future growth engines, by replacing the heads of all sub-divisions except for one, the company said on Wednesday.

Boo Yoon-gyung, executive vice president of Samsung C&T Corp.’s Plant & Machinery Division was appointed head of the Corporate Strategy Office’s Corporate Strategy Team 2.

Chung Hyun-ho, executive vice president of the Corporate Consulting Team was assigned head of the office’s Corporate HR Team, while Rhee In-yong, president of Communication Team, was named head of Samsung Electronics’ Communication Team.

Notably, many among the executive levels at the strategy office were moved to Samsung Electronics, including Rhee.

Kim Sang-kyun, president of the Legal & Compliance Office was named head of Samsung Electronics’ Corporate Legal Team, while Chung Keum-yong, vice president of Corporate HR Team, will also head Samsung Electronics’ Corporate HR Team.

“The reshuffle reflects our attempts to increase efficiency based on our Mach management strategy, and to do so, we have placed presidents and vice presidents in the field,” Samsung Group said in a press release.

The Mach strategy was first mentioned by Samsung Group Chairman Lee Kun-hee almost a decade ago to emphasize the importance of speed in business management.
