The American Chamber of Commerce in Korea said Thursday that Shirley Yu-Tsui, general manager of IBM Korea, has been named the new chairwoman of the AMCHAM Council on Innovation for the Future.

“I’m honored to take on this position and look forward to working with fellow leaders of the U.S. and Korean business communities in helping Korea develop its innovative capacity,” said Yu-Tsui in a statement.

She added that the council will continue to expand innovation-related activities this year, including hosting more “Innovation Camps” for college students and launching the “Innovation Speaker” series that invites leaders in innovation from both countries.

AMCHAM leaders and a group of senior executives representing leading U.S. companies in Korea launched the 20-member innovation council in October 2012 with the aim of promoting innovation and new business opportunities.

With 30 years of experience in the information technology industry, Yu-Tsui joined the Korean unit of IBM as general manager in January 2013. Prior to this, she led IBM’s consulting and systems integration business in China, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
