SNU investigates sexual harassment case

Feb. 17, 2014 - 20:05 By Yoon Min-sik
Seoul National University said Monday it has launched an investigation into claims that one of its professors sexually harassed a female student.

According to SNU, a 22-year-old student on Friday told the SNU Human Rights Center that she had been sexually harassed by a 49-year-old male music professor. She claimed that the professor demanded she send him photos of her breasts, while sending sexual comments to her via mobile messages as well as explicit photos of himself. He even drove her to a motel, asking if she wanted “an experience.”

According to the alleged victim, he said he can make her a professor one day, when she was in her mid-30s.

If the allegations turn out to be true, the school will hold a disciplinary committee to handle the case. The investigation will take about a month, the school said.

The professor in question was unavailable for comment.
