With nearly two decades in the rock music scene, the members of the Glasgow-based post-rock band Mogwai have made a return with their first album in three years and will be performing live in Seoul.

The band recently released its eighth studio album, “Rave Tapes,” last month and in its first week, the 10-track album landed at No. 10 on the U.K. Album Charts and No. 2 on the Scottish Album Charts. To follow up their latest release, Mogwai has embarked on a worldwide tour that will bring them to Korea, where the rockers will perform at the UNIQLO AX Hall on Feb. 16.

Mogwai ― named after the creatures from the popular American comedy-horror film “Gremlins” ― formed in 1995 and made their official debut with the album “Mogwai Young Team” (1997). Since then the band has taken their music to new heights in electronica rock music. Mogwai sets itself apart from mainstream rock by limiting the use of vocals in its music and is known for its lengthy instrumental pieces, using a lot of guitar and distortion effects.

The band currently consists of longtime friends Stuart Braithwaite (guitar, vocals) and Martin Bulloch (drums), who first formed Mogwai nearly 20 years ago along with band mates John Cummings (guitar, vocals), Barry Burns (guitar, piano, synthesizer) and Dominic Aitchison (bass guitar).

The upcoming Mogwai show will also feature up-and-coming English rock trio Daughter as the opening act. Tickets for the show are 88,000 won and can be purchased online or at the door.
