Samsung Electronics, the nation’s leading electronics maker, won the Best of Innovations Award in the television segment for the third consecutive year during the 2014 International CES in Las Vegas.
Its 65-inch smart TV H7100 was selected for innovations including its “real 240Hz panel” and a quad-core processor, the company said in a statement on Friday.
Samsung also won innovation awards for other products including its 105-inch curved ultra-high definition TV. The U.S. tech site HD Guru selected it as the Best in Show, saying that “it is innovative and the curved screen gives viewers a sense of being immersed.” The U.S. magazine Wired also said “This is the first curved TV we have seen that felt like the added curvature benefited the viewer.”
On top of this, the company unveiled its 85-unch bendable UHD TV for the first time, drawing a host of visitors to the product. The U.S. IT magazine Mashable picked the bendable TV as Best Tech of CES 2014, saying “The screen starts flat and curves inwards at the touch of a button.”
Samsung Electronics’ visual display unit head Kim Hyun-seok said, “The 105-inch curved UHD TV and bendable TV represent the sum of the company’s TV technology.”

LG Electronics’ TVs also gained favorable evaluations at the show. Its 77-inch UHD curved organic light-emitting diodes TV was selected as the Best of CES 2014 by the U.S. IT site Digital Trend. Tech site Reviewed.com chose the TV for the Editors’ Choice Award, saying the “LG UHD curved OLED TV is a combination of OLED and UHD, which can show everything TV can do.”
The curved TV was also chosen for Best of Innovations by the Consumer Electronics Association, a hosting organization of CES, for its high definition and super-slim thickness, LG Electronics said.
“We believe that the good reviews are the outcome of LG Electronics’ efforts to provide the best TVs for our consumers,” said Lee In-kyu, a head of LG Electronics’ strategic planning division.
