U.S. hip-hop star Snoop Dogg has collaborated on South Korean rapper Psy's upcoming song and will appear in the music video, sources in the local music industry said Thursday.

The sources said the Snoop Dogg will take part in the filming of the video this month following his role in the production of the song.

It, however, remains undecided whether the song, expected to be out as early as next month, will become the title track of Psy's new album, they said.

They also said the American rapper may visit Seoul for the filming of Psy's new video.

"Seen from the fact that Psy has produced his own music videos in his home country, like in the case of his latest hit-song 'Gentleman,' chances are high Snoop Dogg will secretly visit South Korea to appear in the video," an industry source said. "We expect fresh output from the collaboration."

Last month, the YouTube sensation behind "Gangnam Style" hinted at a possible collaboration with Snoop Dogg by posting a photo of himself with the American musician, along with the caption "@SnoopDogg x @psy_oppa #comingSoon."

Snoop Dogg gained fame for his work on "The Chronic," released by renowned American producer Dr. Dre in 1992. He became a rap fixture after his debut album "Doggystyle" topped the Billboard 200 chart the following year. He has sold some 170 million albums in total. (Yonhap News)
