South Korea's male job seekers are most interested in Samsung Electronics Co., while women are looking mostly at Nexon Co., the country's No. 1 gamemaker, for a career, a poll showed Friday.

According to the data by the leading online job search portal JobKorea, 12 percent of its male members included the world's largest smartphone maker in their job basket, while 7.8 percent of its female members chose Nexon.

Around 29,000 men and 31,900 women participated in the poll, the company said.

Nexon came in second among males' preferred jobs with 9.3 percent, followed by Hyundai Motor Co.; Osstem Implant Co., a medical firm; and NAVER Corp., the country's largest Internet portal operator.

In contrast, NAVER ranked second in the list of jobs preferred by females, followed by Samsung Electronics, Interpark INT Corp. and Amore Pacific Corp., South Korea's leading cosmetics manufacturer.

Samsung Electronics topped the list overall as the most preferred potential employer among local job seekers, trailed by Nexon, NAVER, Hyundai Motor and Osstem Implant.

The average annual paycheck for workers at Hyundai Motor came to 89.3 million won ($84,484) last year, the highest among the country's wage workers. Samsung Electronics held a comparable figure of 77.6 million won to rank 11th in the local business community, market data showed. (Yonhap News)
