팬택이 스마트폰 최초로 진동형 스피커를 장착한 ‘베가 시크릿 업’을 10일 출시한다. 신제품은 다양한 기능으로 여러 사람이 함께 음악을 듣는 즐거움을 극대화한 게 특징이다. 팬택은 6인치 ‘베가 시크릿 노트’에 이어 5.6인치 신제품 앞세운 투 트랙 전략으로 5~6인치 대화면 스마트폰 시장을 공략할 계획이다.

팬택은 5.6인치 스마트폰 ‘베가 시크릿 업’을 5일 공개했다. ‘베가 시크릿 업’은 젤리빈(Android 4.2.2)을 탑재했으며, 실키 화이트(Silky White)와 아이리쉬 블랙(Irish Black) 두 가지 컬러다. 10일부터 이동통신3사를 통해 출시되며 출고가는 미정이다.

이번 신제품은 스마트폰 최초로 진동형 스피커를 적용, 한층 생생하고 역동적인 사운드를 구현했다는 게 가장 큰 특징이다. 팬택은 스마트폰 최초로 진동형 스피커가 적용된 ‘사운드케이스’를 개발, 신제품에 적용했다. ‘사운드케이스’는 스피커가 탑재된 스마트폰 케이스의 형태로, 스마트폰에 장착하기만 하면 바로 생생한 음질을 구현해주는 일종의 ‘증폭기’다. 이용자들은 사운드케이스를 통해 별도의 음향장치 없이 스마트폰만으로도 여러 사람과 동시에 풍부하고 역동적인 사운드를 경험할 수 있다. 사운드케이스의 가격은 미정이며 팬택은 ‘베가 시크릿 업’ 초기 구매자 중 선착순 2만 명에게 ‘사운드케이스’를 제공하는 프로모션도 함께 진행한다.

또한 고음질의 음원파일을 스마트폰에서도 들을 수 있도록 하는 ‘무손실음원(FLAC) 재생’과 음악 재생시 음역대를 높여주는 DRE(Dynamic Range Enhancement) 기술을 적용해 ‘듣는 재미’를 배가했다.

한편 신제품은 ‘베가시크릿노트’에서 선보인 사생활 보호기능에 지하철, 버스 등 사람들이 밀집한 장소에서 스마트폰 화면을 가릴 수 있도록 하는 ‘시크릿 블라인드(Secret Blind)’를 더했으며, 사용자들이 자신만의 개성이 담긴 사용자 환경을 만들 수 있도록 하는 스타일 테마를 제공해 스타일을 향상시켰다.

회사 측은 “베가 시크릿 업은 한층 강화된 프라이버시 보호 기능에 역동적인 사운드를 더한 것이 특징”이라며 “6인치의 ‘베가 시크릿 노트’와 5.6인치 ‘베가 시크릿 업’을 앞세운 투트랙 전략으로 대화면 스마트폰 시장을 공략하겠다”고 밝혔다.

Pantech unveils new smartphone Vega Secret Up

Pantech will roll out its new smartphone Vega Secret Up, featuring enhanced audio quality and privacy protection, next Tuesday.

Prior to its release at a press meeting held in Seoul on Thursday, the phone maker released details of the new device, including an internal speaker with high sound quality by expanding the sound range and preventing unwanted noise and fingerprint recognition sensors.

“The new Vega Secret Note and Vega Secret Up will help Pantech to regain its status as a major smartphone company,” said Park Chang-jin, marketing executive at Pantech.

The smartphone will feature an oscillating speaker, enabling users to enjoy music in a large space without the need for other audio devices.

Users can expect a reinforced version of “Secret Blind” enhanced with a fingerprint recognition sensor that protects personal information. Users will be able to hide their screens from unwanted eyes in crowded situations such as in buses or elevators. By switching to secret mode, financial information can be directly accessed without further verification.

The new phone will also provide a multi-window view that allows users to process two applications in a single screen.

The Vega Secret Up will be available in silky white or Irish black through the nation’s main mobile carriers and will run on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system.
