Only three Korean companies ― Samsung Electronics, LG Electronics and LS Industrial System ― were named among the world’s top 100 global innovators, according to an annual study by Thomson Reuters.

Korea lagged far behind the United States with 45 companies on the list and Japan with 27 companies.
