Hyundai Motor ordered to recall 64,795 cars in China

Oct. 1, 2013 - 11:02 By KH디지털2

Hyundai Motor Co., South Korea's top automaker, has been ordered to recall a total of 64,795 vehicles in China because of faulty brake pedals, China's consumer quality regulator said Tuesday.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said vehicles from Hyundai affected by the recall included Genesis and Azera sedans.

The vehicles involved were produced between 2005 and 2010, according to a statement posted on the regulator's website.

"Problems related to the faulty brake pedals may increase the risk of an accident," the statement said.

The recall in China came less than a week after Hyundai and its affiliate Kia recalled about 660,000 vehicles in South Korea due to the same issue, marking the biggest-ever recall at home.

Officials at Hyundai's office in Beijing were not immediately available for comments. (Yonhap news)
