Samsung Electronics held global media events for its flagship phablet Galaxy Note 3 and smart watch Galaxy Gear prior to the official worldwide release Wednesday.

The electronics giant said it held a media event in Beijing Monday as part of Samsung’s global release of the new gadgets.

Some Chinese news outlets predicted the success of the new Galaxy phablet, with one saying, “The new Galaxy lineups are all set to take on the Chinese market with a solid fan base of 8 million users.”

Monday’s event was held at The Place, and Chinese actress Zhao Wei participated in the event as a spokesperson.

The media conference came after an identical event was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The Note 3 and Gear will hit the shelves worldwide after the Korean media day event Wednesday, which was scheduled to be held at Samsung’s headquarters in Gangnam.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which is 8.3 millimeters thick and weighs 168 grams, comes with a 5.7-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, 3,200 mAh battery, and 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor. It is also equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with smart stabilization and high CRI LED flash.

The 1.6-inch display smart watch, which is equipped with a 1.9-megapixel camera, works with the Note 3.

The built-in speaker allows users to conduct hands-free calls directly from the Gear.

The wearable gadget also works like a pedometer to track physical activity via enhanced, built-in sensor technology.
