Expat volunteer group to hold trivia night

Sept. 24, 2013 - 20:51 By Korea Herald
Expat-led volunteer group PLUR will hold a trivia night on Oct. 5 to raise funds.

The event will raise money for the group’s ongoing “...Your Seoul” projects, which involve helping the homeless and hungry, teaching underprivileged children and looking after abandoned animals.

Organizer Linda Lam said that the funds would be used to pay for new textbooks and for basic equipment such as boots and aprons for the “Feed Your Seoul” project, which provides food to the hungry on Fridays and Saturdays.

It will also help make up for shortfalls when there are not enough volunteers for “Help Your Seoul,” in which participants collect money to buy food that they then give to the homeless.

Lam said that the projects were running smoothly and well attended, but that there was a shortage of teachers to help out with “Teach Your Seoul” on Saturdays.

Prizes on the night will include baked goods, bottles of drink and PLUR T-shirts.

The trivia night will be at the Bull and Barrel in Itaewon. Entries will be accepted on the night at 7:30 p.m., with activities beginning at 8 p.m. Entry is 10,000 won per person.
