Singapore’s Daphne Tan won her first gold medal by defeating China’s Dongdong Chen in the women’s bowling finals on Monday.
The 22-year-old, who denied a home victory to Asian Games gold medalist Son Yun-hee of Korea in the semi-finals, started off well with a strike in the second frame and another two in the eighth and the final frame to win the title with 182.
Meanwhile, Chen, who defeated Hwang Yeon-ju of Korea in the other semi-final, started off with a split in her opening frame and had another two opened frames in the fourth and sixth to finish with a low 167 for a silver medal. Korea’s Hwang and Son were both awarded bronze medals.
The men’s doubles final will kick off at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday with another six games in round 1. The top eight teams will advance to the quarterfinals. The finals will be held at 19:20 p.m. Tuesday.
