현재 판매되고 있는 주요 스마트폰의 성능 속도 면에서 삼성의 갤럭시S4가 가장 빠른 반면 애플의 아이폰5는 가장 느리다는 영국 소비자단체 시험결과가 나왔다.

24일(현지시간) 영국 소비자 감시단체인 ‘위치(Which)’는 스마트폰 성능 시험 도구인 ‘긱벤치’(GeekBench)를 활용해 각사의 스마트폰 성능 속도를 시험한 결과 이같은 결과가 나타났다고 밝혔다.

갤럭시S4는 긱벤치 점수가 3,188점으로 함께 시험 대상에 오른 7개사 제품 중에서 가장 높았다.

반면 아이폰5는 1천664점으로 갤럭시S4의 겨우 절반을 조금 넘는 수준이었다.

긱벤치 점수가 높을수록 스마트폰 성능 속도가 빠르다는 것을 의미한다.

이 단체는 “한 스마트폰의 긱벤치 점수가 높다면 일반적으로 많은 애플리케이션에 걸쳐 사진 편집과 생생한 게임 구현, 멀티태스킹 시 구동이 잘 될 것”이라고 밝혔으며 “의심할 여지 없이, 애플은 이번 가을 차기 아이폰을 출시할 때 더욱 개선된 프로세서로 성능을 업그레이드할 것”이라고 덧붙였다.

Galaxy S4 twice as fast as iPhone 5: report

Samsung Electronics’ Galaxy S4 is the fastest smartphone among the best-selling brands in the market, according to a test by U.K.’s watchdog released on Tuesday.

The organization named ”Which?“ used a speed-testing system called Geekbench to evaluate the processing and memory speed of seven representative cell phone brands. 

Galaxy S4, ranked at the top, scored 3,188 points while Apple’s iPhone5 scored 1,664, ranking at the bottom with its score barely reaching half that of Samsung.

“If a phone has a high Geekbench score it will perform well when photo-editing, running graphically intensive games and multi-tasking across numerous apps in general,” said a member from the organization. 

“Undoubtedly, Apple will upgrade its next iPhone with an improved processor when it launches later this autumn,” he added.
