Gucci invites customers to ‘Artisan Corner’

June 17, 2013 - 19:58 By Korea Herald
Gucci on Monday said it will operate an “Artisan Corner” at four of its stores in Korea in an effort to reach out to the public.

Between June 22 and July 5, the Italian luxury brand will invite its master artisans to the stores to demonstrate how Gucci’s top totes and bags, such as the New Jackie, New Bamboo, Soho and Emily, are produced.

The demonstration will exactly replicate Gucci’s leather factory in Florence, Italy, the company said.

The products made through this process will be put on sale, either through preorders or on the spot. An added personal touch is that they will be tagged with labels including the initials of the customer, as well as the locale and date of production.

This year marks the third year that the 92-year-old Gucci brand has held such events for its customers here.

This year, the company said it decided to move to some of the provincial areas to make sure people in those regions also can get a glimpse of how Gucci operates.

The Artisan Corner campaign will kick off at Shinsegae Department Store in Jukjeon, Gyeonggi Province, followed by Galleria Department Store in Daejeon, Lotte Department Store in Gwangju and Lotte Department Store in Seoul.
