수천명의 미국 십대 소녀들이 보스턴 마라톤 테러 용의자가 “결백”하다고 주장해 그를 석방하기 위한 온라인 운동을 펼치고 있다.  

이들은 테러 용의자인 조하르 차르나예프에게는 “유죄를 입증할 만한 증거가 불충분하다”며 #Freejahar이 적힌 자신들의 손 사진을 트위터와 페이스북에 올리기 시작했다.

한 소녀는 자신의 몸에 영원히 용의자의 트위터 문구를 새기겠다는 계획을 밝혔다.

캔자스에서 웨이트리스로 일하는 그녀는 5월 7일 “내일 조하르의 트위터 내용을 문신할거다. 나는 #Freejahal 지지자라고 볼 수 있겠다” 라는 문구를 자신의 트위터 계정에 적었다.

온라인 운동을 지켜본 많은 인터넷 사용자들은 미 십대소녀를 비판하며 이들이 자하르의 잘생긴 얼굴에 매료되어 소송에 차질을 빚게 만들고 있다고 전했다.

“조하르의 지지자들은 조하르가 잘생겼기 때문에 응원하는 것이며 그를 위해 싸우는 가장 좋은 지지자는 조하르의 외모를 보지 않는 사람들입니다” 라고 한 인터넷 사용자가 언급했다.

19살의 보스톤 마라톤 테러 용의자 조하르는 현재 대량파괴무기 사용죄로 미 연방 교도소에 투옥됐다. 그는 자신의 형인 태머란과 4월 15일 보스톤에서 열린 마라톤 경기에 폭탄을 설치한 혐의를 받고 있다. (코리아 헤럴드)

U.S. teenage girls claim Boston Marathon bomber ‘innocent’

Thousands of U.S. teenage girls are participating in an online campaign to free Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Jahar Tsarnaev, claiming he is “innocent.”

The teen girls claimed Tsarnaev should be set free on grounds that the “evidence against him doesn’t add up” and started posting pictures of their hands written with hash tag #FreeJahar on Twitter and Facebook.

One girl even plans to permanently inscribe Jahar’s words on her body.

“(I’m) Getting one of Jahar’s tweets tattooed on me tomorrow. Guess you could say I’m a #FreeJahar supporter,” a teen who works as a waitress in Kansas tweeted on May 7.

A number of Internet users who saw the online movement criticized the girls, saying they were drawn and distracted by Jahar’s looks.

“Most of his supporters were drawn to Jahar by his looks, the best kind of supporters are those fighting for him and putting his looks aside,” one Internet user commented.

The 19-year-old suspect nicknamed “Jahar” is now confined in a U.S. federal prison on charges of terrorism. He is accused of carrying out the bomb attacks at the marathon with his brother Tamerlan on April 15.
