Toronto Korean Film Festival is accepting submissions for its competition section.

All submissions should be less than 15 minutes long, include a Korea-related theme, and be created by Korean-Canadians or Koreans living in Canada. The submission deadline is May 10.

The selected films will be screened at the festival scheduled to be held in June in Toronto.

Celebrating its second edition this year, the upcoming event’s theme is “Ups and Downs of Korean Peninsula.” Korea’s contemporary feature films, independent shorts, and works created by Korean-Canadians will be screened.

Last year, a total of 12 Korean feature films were screened, including Kim Jee-woon’s famous 2003 horror “A Tale of Two Sisters” and Lee Chang-dong’s 2007 drama “Secret Sunshine.” It also screened “Dear Pyongyang,” a documentary by Japanese-born director Yang Yong-hi about her three brothers who live in Pyongyang, North Korea.

The upcoming festival runs from June 6 to 8. The organizers are also hosting a fund-raising event in Toronto on May 8. For more information, visit the festival’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TKFFfilmfest.
