‘Giant rats’ plague Gimhae: TV station
A variety of deformed animals, including one-meter-long giant rats, are emerging in Korea, a local broadcaster claimed.
SBS said it will take a look at how abnormal animals have appeared recently due to climate change in its current affairs show Hyeonjang 21 (At the Scene 21).
A recent report by Korea Meteorological Administration indicated that climate in Korea is rapidly changing. According to the report, by 2100 summers will be six months long, and winters will be merely two months, a change which presumably will bring devastating effects to the environment.
Some of its effects may already be taking place.
According to the producers of the program, rats that weigh about 8 kilograms and are 10 times longer than normal rats have merged in Gimhae city, South Gyeongsang province. The giant rats are said to be causing havoc in the area by devouring vegetation.
Hyeonjang 21 will also focus on genetic deformities found in marine life.
The show will be aired on Tuesday at 8:55 p.m.
