North Korea drummed up threats of an all-out nuclear war with South Korea and the U.S. on Sunday, one day ahead of the two allies‘ planned joint military drill which the communist country denounces as targeting the North.

“Our front-line military groups, the army, the navy and the air force, the anti-aircraft units and the strategic rocket units, who have entered the final all-out war stage, are awaiting the final order to strike,” North Korea’s Rodong Sinmun, the most widely circulated daily published by the governing Workers‘ Party of Korea, said. The country’s nuclear arms are also prepared for combat, it said.

“Puppet regimes in the U.S. and South Korea will be turned into a sea of fire in the blink of an eye” if a war breaks out, the newspaper said, repeating the threats of a nuclear war the country has issued in recent weeks over the joint war exercise.

The newspaper also carried propaganda poems in the same issue, rallying support for the country‘s threats to fight with the two enemy states.

The 11-day computer-simulated drill Key Resolve kicks off on Monday while another two-month field training exercise known as Foal Eagle started earlier in the month.

Key Resolve involves 10,000 South Korean forces and 3,500 U.S.

soldiers along with high-profile combat planes and an aircraft carrier. South Korea says the drill is only for defensive purposes, but the North contends it targets the North and reflects the allies’ plans to invade the country.

Denouncing the military drills, the North has threatened to wage a nuclear war and cancel the Armistice Agreement which ended the 1950-53 Korean War, starting on Monday. The two Koreas are technically still at war since no peace treaty has been signed.

Experts feared heightened military tensions with North Korea during the joint war drills.

North Korea is also expected to launch nationwide military exercises near the inter-Korea border on Monday or Tuesday in response to the joint South-U.S. drills.

The communist country is likely to fire short-range missiles or launch other military provocations during their military drills, a South Korean military source said.

“In the event of (the North‘s) provocations, (South Korea) will respond with forces 10 times stronger than the provocations,” the military source said. (Yonhap News)

北 “학생들 입대 결의, 최후 명령 기다려”

북한은 한미합동군사훈련인 ’키리졸브‘ 연습 개시를 하루 앞둔 10일 워싱턴을 겨냥한 미사일을 언급하며 위협 공세를 이어갔다.

북한은 이미 ’키 리졸브‘ 연습이 시작되는 11일부터 정전협정의 효력을 백지화하 고 남북 간 불가침 합의들이 전면 무효화된다고 엄포를 놓은 상태다.

노동당 기관지 노동신문은 이날 ’침략자들에게 무자비한 복수의 철퇴를‘이라는 제목의 글에서 “지금 최후의 전면대결전에 진입한 우리 전선군집단을 비롯한 육군, 해군, 항공 및 반항공군 부대들과 전략로케트 군부대들, 노농적위군과 붉은청년근위 대들은 최후돌격명령만을 기다리고 있다”며 “다종화된 우리 식의 정밀핵타격 수단들 도 만단의 전투동원태세에 있다”고 밝혔다.

그러면서 “조국통일성전의 포성이 울리면 우리 민족에게 온갖 불행과 고통을 강 요하던 미국과 남조선괴뢰들의 소굴들은 삽시에 불바다로 화하게 될 것”이라고 위협 했다.

노동신문은 또 ’바로 이 시각이다‘는 제목의 개인필명의 시를 게재하고 “바로 지금이다 / 이 땅에 천추만대의 원한을 남긴 미제의 아성 워싱턴을 겨눈 우리의 미사일 발사단추를 누를 때는!”이라고 썼다.

노동신문은 ’전쟁의 아성에 불벼락치리‘라는 제목의 다른 시에선 “백악관이 장거리 미사일의 조준경에 잡혔다 / 전쟁의 아성이 원자탄의 타격권에 들었다”고 주장 했다.

북한의 대내용 라디오방송인 조선중앙방송도 김일성종합대 학생들이 미국 등 적 대세력의 ’침략전쟁책동‘을 짓뭉갤 의지를 가다듬고 있다며 “인민군 최고사령부 대변인 성명을 접하고 군대에 입대할 것을 제일 먼저 탄원했다”는 한 여학생의 발언을 소개했다.

중앙방송은 또 자강도 희천시의 중학교 졸업반 학생들이 인민군대에 입대할 것을 결의했다고 전했다.

북한의 대남선전용 웹사이트 ’우리민족끼리‘는 논평으로 우리 국방부 대변인이 최근 북한의 핵공격시 김정은 정권이 소멸될 것이라고 언급하고 “괴뢰호전광들은 무 엄하게도 우리의 존엄높은 정권을 어째보려 한 대가가 얼마나 참혹한 것인가를 뼈저 리게 느끼게 될 것”이라고 위협했다.
