South Korea picked up a silver medal on the second day of the World Short Track Speed Skating Championships in Debrecen, Hungary, on Saturday.

Park Seung-hi took second place in the women’s 500 meters at 43.852 seconds. Wang Meng of China finished first at 43.718 seconds. Another Chinese, Fan Kexin, claimed the bronze at 44.202 seconds.

She was the only South Korean to reach the podium on Saturday.

In the men’s 500m, Noh Jin-kyu failed to get past the semifinals.

This was Ahn’s first world championship medal in six years.

The South Korean men’s 5,000m relay team qualified for the final by posting the fastest time in Saturday’s semifinals with 6:51.098. The Netherlands, Canada and Russia have also made the relay final. (Yonhap News)
