Incoming President Park Geun-hye's transition team on Thursday announced the new government's key vision and goals are centered on building a job-oriented creative economy and providing tailored welfare services.

The incoming government will also adopt as its major goals a life of culture and creativity education, a safe and integrated society, and a foundation for a happy reunification of South and North Korea, transition team chief Kim Yong-joon said.

The new government's overarching vision will be "a new era of people's happiness and hope," he added.

A total of 21 strategies have been designed to help achieve those five major goals. They include the fusion of science and technology with industry in a way that can help create industries and jobs, providing welfare services tailored for each period of a person's life, and establishing a defense posture that guarantees the country's security and winning of the public's trust.

The transition team announced the policy road map following weeks of policy briefings from government offices, discussions with experts, and field trips aimed at gathering public opinion.

The road map, which also included 140 policy plans, wraps up the transition team's two-month operation.

The team will be disbanded Friday, with Park set to be sworn in as the country's first female president on Monday. (Yonhap News)
