Fans mourn Ulala Session leader Lim

Ulala Session leader Lim Yoon-taek died on Feb. 11, after battling gastric cancer for a number of years.

“Lim Yoon-taek passed away today in the hospital. On Feb. 8 his condition suddenly deteriorated and he had to be admitted to the hospital. The hospital announced that he had passed away due to cancer,” said an official of Lim’s agency.

Lim was the leader of the group Ulala Session, winners of the audition program Superstar K Season 3 in 2011. The popular group attracted fans with their vocal skills, flashy performances and sense of humor.

The singer was diagnosed with stage 4 gastric cancer in January 2011. Stage 4 is the last stage of cancer, characterized by cancer cells spreading to nearby lymph nodes, liver, the pancreas, intestine, and other parts of the body.

Lim touched the hearts of many viewers through his determination to strive for his dreams despite his cancer. Throughout the course of Super Star K3 and many other broadcasts, Lim showed subsequent strong leadership and charisma as the leader of the group. Lim always gave audiences the “wow” factor, as he poured his energy and soul into his performances.

Lim Yoon-taek was married last year and is survived by his wife and daughter. His funeral will be held at the Yonsei Severance Hospital on Thursday.
