South Korean female speed-skater Lee Sang-hwa finished third overall at the World Sprint Speed Skating Championships.

On the final day of the two-day competition in Salt Lake City, Utah, Lee was first in the 500 meters and ninth in 1,000 meters.

The sprint championships, run by the International Skating Union, are held over two days, with skaters racing in 500 meters and 1,000 meters once each day.

Their times are converted to points, and the skater with the least amount of points is declared the champion.

Heather Richardson of the U.S. was the overall champion with 148.015 points. Yu Jing of China was second with 148.290 points.

Lee, who was second in the 500 meters and 12th in the 1,000 meters on the first day, earned 148.560 points overall. She was the 2010 overall champion in Japan. (Yonhap News)
