환경부는 2012년 판매된 친환경 자동차가 79.6% 증가한 3만6청544대로 집계됐다고 16일 밝혔다.

이것은 지난해 신규 등록한 자동차 117만여대 가운데 3.1%에 해당하는 수치이라고 밝혔다

종류별로는 하이브리드차가 3만5천830대로 대부분이었고 전기차는 714대가 팔렸다.

친환경 자동차 시장의 선두주자인 일본과 미국은 각각 45만대와 28만대의 친환경 자동차를 판매한 것으로 확인됐다.

한국의 친환경 자동차 사장도 커지고 있는 상황이다. 2004년에는 50대, 2010년에는 8천115, 2011년에는 2만342대의 친환경 자동차 판매량을 기록했다.

하지만 충전시설과 높은 가격 등 인프라 확충이 부족한 상태라고 우려의 목소리도 있다.

More green cars run on Korean roads

The number of environmentally-friendly cars sold in Korea increased 79.6 percent year-on-year to 36,544 in 2012, the Ministry of Environment said Wednesday.

They accounted for 3.1 percent of the 1.17 million newly registered vehicles last year, according to the ministry’s data.

Most of them were hybrids with 35,830 while only 714 electric cars were sold.

Japan and the U.S. which lead the world green car market sold 450,000 and 280,000 green cars, respectively.

The number of eco-friendly cars in Korea has been on a constant rise, from 50 in 2004, to 8,115 in 2010 and to 20, 342 in 2011.

However, a lack of infrastructure like charging stations and expensive prices are still said to be major bumps.
