Ice climbing course for beginners

Jan. 8, 2013 - 19:49 By Korea Herald
Climbing and ice climbing group Sanirang is holding a basic introduction to ice climbing on Jan. 19 and Feb. 2.

The sessions will take place on outdoor natural ice falls and parks in the Seoul and Gyeonggi Province area, although the specific location is yet to be decided.

The sessions are suitable for complete beginners or intermediate climbers and meet at 7:30 a.m. They include a basic introduction to the equipment, safety and ice climbing.

Each session costs 85,000 won, plus rental of equipment for those who cannot supply their own. A full set of gear costs 35,000 won to rent, but individual items can also be hired.

Courses are not canceled due to weather changes, but if it is unsafe to climb, they may be rescheduled to an indoor gym.
