GS Group donated 4 billion won ($3.7 million) to the Community Chest of Korea on Tuesday to help neighbors in need.

Separately from group-wide cash donations, its subsidiaries operate different charity programs for the year-end holidays, officials said.

GS Caltex executives and employees received a list of Christmas gifts from 300 children at a day-care center near Seoul City Hall and plan to deliver them along with Christmas cards, wearing Santa Claus costumes.

GS Retail plans to collect about 2,000 used books from its employees and customers, and hand them over to social welfare groups at the end of the year.

GS Shop runs a donation corner on its online mall, while GS Construction financially supports study rooms for children from low-income families.
