Two prosecutors and four prosecution officials were referred to police Thursday for investigation for their alleged involvement in making and circulating a photo file of a female suspect accused of engaging in sex acts with a prosecutor during questioning, officials said.

A special investigation team at the Supreme Prosecutors' Office sent the six-man list to police, paving the way for police to summon and question an incumbent prosecutor for the first time. No sitting prosecutor has ever been questioned by police.

The case grew out of a sex scandal centering on revelations that a trainee prosecutor engaged in sexual acts with a female suspect charged with theft during questioning at his office last month. The junior prosecutor apparently had sex with the woman at a motel two days later.

A photo of the 42-year-old suspect later spread through the Internet, and the woman asked police to investigate those who had leaked and circulated the photo.

One of the two prosecutors referred to police is suspected of making a computer file of her photo by capturing the image of her in the prosecution's database after the other prosecutor ordered him to do so, officials said.

Officials said more investigation is needed to determine whether they circulated the photo on the Internet.(Yonhap)
