A 17-year-old British girl repeatedly raped by her stepfather spoke out about the horrible experience and vowed to move on.

Danii Wiblin of Suffolk, who courageously stepped into the limelight to share her horrendous story, said the experience had robbed of her childhood, local media reported.

“It was taken away from me when I was 11-and-a-half,” she said.

The abuse started when Danii was just 11 years old and went on for five years. Her stepfather Alan Harrison sexually abused her and even bought her inappropriate adult items.

Danii said mental stress of the abuse forced her to turn to alcohol and drugs.

“I was smoking at 11,” she said.

Even after when she alerted the authorities, her suffering went on. Danii said she was suicidal and did a lot of things to hurt herself.

“I used to scream my eyes out,” she said.

“I was on anti-depressants. I had counseling throughout the case, and then my mental state started to pick up after about three months.”

Danii said she was able to overcome the hardship, thanks to Suffolk child protection team’s Lindsay Poole and others who supported her.

Danii even managed to look past the anger towards her stepfather.

“I said on (the police) video that despite how much I hate him, I don’t really hate him. I hate what he has done to me,” she said.

The teen added she wasn’t going to let the remainder of her life be ruined by Harrison, and she will “start from scratch.”

Danii said she hopes to start a charity to help victims of all kinds of abuse, so they will have someone to talk to. She advised the victims not to “let your fears hold you back” and that they must not be afraid to speak out.

Harrison was jailed for 12 years earlier this month after admitting to 11 child sex offenses, including nine counts of rape.

“미친 듯이 비명을 지르곤 했어요 (I used to scream my eyes out). 항우울제도 먹었고, 계속해서 상담을 받아야 했죠. 3개월 정도 지나니까 정신적으로 안정이 되었어요”라고 그녀는 말했다.

다니양은 서퍽 아동보호 팀의 린지 풀 씨를 포함한 여러 명의 도움으로 결국 역경을 이겨낼 수 있었다고 말했다.

그녀는 심지어 아동학대범인 해리슨에 대한 증오도 어느 정도 극복했다.

“저는 (경찰이 촬영한) 비디오에서 그에 대한 미운 감정에도 불구하고 실제로 그를 미워하는 것은 아니라고 말했어요. 제가 실제로 미운 건 그가 저한테 한 행동이니까요”라고 다니 양은 말했다.

다니 양은 언젠가 자신과 같이 학대를 당한 사람들을 돕기 위한 자선단체를 만들고 싶다고 밝혔다. 그녀는 학대 피해자들에게 공개적으로 목소리를 내는 것을 두려워하지 말라고 조언했다.

한편 해리슨은 이번달 초 재판을 받고 징역 12년형을 선고받았다.
