Former Ambassador to U.S. Kim Kyung-won dies

Veteran diplomat and renowned political science professor Kim Kyung-won died Sunday at the age of 76.

He served as chief of staff for former President Chung Doo-hwan from 1980 to 1982. He was Korea’s ambassador to the United Nations from 1982 to 1985 and to the U.S. from 1985 to 1988.

He formerly headed the Institute of Social Sciences and the Seoul Forum for International Affairs..

He received his doctorate in political science at Harvard University and taught at Korea University, York University in Canada and New York University. (From news reports)
