A California man charged with shooting his son over a round of country music karaoke has been ordered to stand trial.

Shasta County Superior Court Judge Anthony Anderson ordered William Oller Sr., 70, to stand trial on attempted murder and assault charges during his preliminary hearing Tuesday, The Record Searchlight, Reading, reported Thursday.

Investigators said the two men argued Jan. 20 at the younger man’s Shingletown home because the father did not approve of his son’s karaoke singing.

Oller Sr. allegedly retrieved a semiautomatic handgun from his pickup truck and shot his son in the arm during the struggle for the gun. Oller Sr. also suffered a gunshot wound to the leg during the struggle.

The older man, who remains jailed in lieu of $750,000 bond, is due back in court July 31.

Oller Jr. declined to reveal the song that set off the argument. (UPI)

수사관들은 지난 1월 20일 아들의 싱글타운 자택에서 아들과 아버지가 다퉜다고 밝혔다. 아버지가 노래방에서 부른 아들의 노래를 못마땅해 한 것이 원인이었다.

아버지 올러는 자신의 소형 트럭에서 반자동 권총을 가지고 왔다. 총을 빼앗기 위해 엎치락뒤치락 하던 중 아버지는 아들의 팔을 쏘았다. 아버지 역시 몸싸움 중에 다리에 총상을 입었다.

아버지 올러는 75만 달러(8억 5천 만원 상당)의 벌금 대신에 옥살이를 하고 있으며, 7월 31일에 다시 법정에 선다.

아들 올러는 분란을 일으킨 노래 공개를 거부했다.
