July 16, 2012 - 19:36 By Korea Herald
Long and short films and artwork will be screened and displayed in Seoul during the 12th Seoul International NewMedia Art Festival (NEMA) held under the theme of “XY Global New Media” from July 25 through Aug. 11, organizers said Monday.

A total of 141 new media art cinemas and artwork in five categories submitted from some 20 countries will be shown during the festival at the Korean Film Archive, i-Gong, Alternative Visual Culture Factory and the Seoul Art Space.

The five categories are the International Propose of NEMA, Invitation Screening, Asian Special, Alternative Genre Screening and Retrospective.

Invitational works will show up-to-date trends of digital works while dance films and footage cinemas will be screened as the Alternative Genre Screening. Dance film is a new genre of movie composed of only dancing and no dialogue. Asian Special will feature the Philippines’ video arts.

Works of John Torres, a film director from the Philippines, and Mixrice, a project team from South Korea, will be screened in the Retrospective section.
